Social Stars Awars 2013 - Media Conference ♥

As mentioned, went to the media conference for Social Stars for last week!
A lot of reporters and writers were there, I think that's the most number of media I've seen for a event XD!

The emcee for the day!
Couldn't remember his name but he's cute and funny as we go on with the interview with the stars XD

From kAvenyou: Various stars were present at the Social Stars Media Conference held on Wednesday, 22nd May 2013. “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen who climbed rapidly to fame was the first guest to arrive at the media conference.
She smiled and said “it’s good to have a change in weather since she is used to the cold back in Canada” when questioned on getting used to the weather in Singapore. Carly Rae Jepsen also expressed that social media was one of the ways for her to build a personal connection with her fans.

From kAvenyou: LMFAO’s BluSky was up next, and he told the media that he was expecting some hot and saucy questions. Along came a question asking for a person that he would bring and what that person would be wearing, if he was to be on a beach with nobody else around. He shared candidly that he is a taken man, and will only bring his lady with him being all naked!
Chester See then came on and shared that he had never thought of becoming a YouTube sensation, and commented that it was impressive because YouTube, as a part of the social media has reached out to a lot of people.

From kAvenyou: PSY who gained worldwide recognition through “Gangnam Style” was up, and mentioned that he has never used any social media platforms like Twitter and YouTube. He only began using them to engage fans after “Gangnam Style” was released. Below the transcript of PSY’s interview.

Q:  You, as an Asian to rise onto the global platform, what is your take as an Asian and a Korean yourself?
A:  I met Jackie Chan during last fall and he said ‘You inherit me; you are the 2nd hit among the Asians’, and these words made me feel very honoured. I still remembered when I was in Vegas last year for leisure and a year later, I was there again to win awards. It all happened so fast, within the last 10 months with just a single song. Therefore, I am proud as a Korean to be one of the presenters representing the Asian countries. People thought that Asians were calm and quiet but there are other Asians doing strange dance moves with strange body shapes. There are various kinds of Asians; the normal ones and the abnormal ones.  I am proud to be another kind of Asian in the western country.

Q: We are all curious how PSY is back in the days, how is the growing up PSY and any words for your teenage fans?
A:  I think that if we are not good academically, that does not mean that we are not good at everything. I was not good academically back then, but I am good at something that is not learnt in school. I think they should think about it while growing up because they have their own strengths, which might not be learnt in school.

From kAvenyou: Lastly, PSY expressed that some people refer to “Gentleman” as a secondary success, while some people think that “Gentleman” is not as successful as “Gangnam Style”. He added that he could not rely on “Gangnam Style” forever as the song is a miracle, and miracles never happen twice. Therefore, he intends to leave “Gangnam Style” behind and move on.

From kAvenyou: Aerosmith was up last at the interview in their stylish retro outfits. When asked if Aerosmith members go on social media, they replied positively and that the members find it the best way to connect with the fans.
As a rock band, they feel that social media is a good platform to show the talent they have got to the rest of the world.

I'm kind of touched when PSY was talking about being special in our own ways, it's true because some of us might not be good in academics but we are good at other stuffs, for example people who are not good in studies, always ace in art (well mostly of my friends are), and some are good at other stuffs, like music! And the way he speak for the success of Gangnam Style and Gentleman, I was nodding my head in agreeing with what he said! XD

Ciaos!
